The Kingsway Smart doorsets were selected by Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust to provide enhanced patient monitoring and provide services users with access control cards to facilitate freer movement that could be audited and controlled.

The Smart doorsets consisted of a electric strike which was operated by a card reader on the wall outside of the bedroom and a Duralux Platinum switchable vision panel which was patient operated from the inside and staff card reader on the outside all linking back to the central access control operating centre.

The advantages provided by the Smart door system are as follows:

Staff can audit when the patient observations take place through Duralux Platinum vision panel to provide full duty of care compliance.

Patients have greater freedom with the use of access control cards.

Security is increased with no master key system that can be compromised.

Switchable vision panel are silent in operation which eliminates patient distrubances during night-time observations.

Kingsway Group will continue to develop the Smart patient management system to provide healthcare professionals the best system to safely manage patients in a secure care settings whilst providing as many freedoms as possible.
